Hot Air Balloon Festival

It was a cool Sunday morning, we woke up early and went straight to Clarkfield, Pampanga to watch the 16th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival.

On the way near the entrance gate, a number of vehicles were already piling up causing heavy traffic. As soon as we were inside, just a few meters away from the entrance, we decided to park in the open field across where we had a good view of the said event. Luckily, the balloons were still deflated at that time. In a few minutes later, the pilots begun heating up the balloons, inflating them and were getting ready to fly. Afterwards a colorful scenery unveiled in front of us.

Then one by one the balloons floated up in the air and were carried by the wind.

They glided amidst the cotton-like clouds as the passed by the magnificent Mt. Arayat.

For the finale, the uniquely designed balloons followed, showcasing different themes.

the Pirate in a Barrel

the Barn

the Darth Vader

the Mushroom House

the Snow Man

After the viewing, we treated ourselves for a snack of nachos and ice cream.

We left the place mesmerized with both our eyes and tummy satisfied. Until next time!

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is located at the southern part of Vietnam. A booming tourist destination, the country is rich with natural resouces and historical events. Travelling within the city is quite convenient because a lot of tour operators offer quality and reasonably priced travel packages and countless of itineraries. Most of the operators are situated at Pham Ngu Lao St., District 1, HCM. In here you can also find the hotels and restaurants while the business and shopping centers are just walking distance away. But remember to be cautious of motorcycles when crossing the streets though I read it is "best to cross with no hesitation".

Below are the tourist destinations we went to:

City Tour

Post Office

  War Remnants Museum

Notre Dame Cathedral

Ben Thanh market

Saigon Square shopping center

Mekong River Cruise

This tour let you experience the daily lifestyle of local people and the marvelous nature in the Mekong Delta. Starting with the transfer to Ben Tre province, take a motorized boat cruise to cross the Mekong river and land on Tortoise Island. Visit orchards, coconut candy factory and enjoy tropical fruits. Take a horse-drawn cart in the village and be serenaded with traditional music. Ride on rowing sampan through narrow, tree lined canals with water coconut palms. Free lunch at a local restaurant.  Cu Chi Tunnels Tour

Visit the underground village, an incredible network of over 200 km tunnels where the heroic guerillas had been living and fighting during a long time war.  (Source: Vietravel)

Finally experience Vietnamese cuisine and the local diners.

Lotteria - fastfood chicken burger

Gon Cafe - sizzling/hot plates and Vietnamese rolls
(tip: wet rice paper first before rolling)

ABC Bakery - tasty pastries, baguettes and doughnuts

Pho Quynh - beef glass noodle soup

Travelling in Vietnam will let you experience a laid back country style living. It is an  educational and memorable trip you shouldn't miss.
